Chinese Beef Ribs With Vegetables (Slow Cooker Recipe) Traditional Chinese Cooking

Slow cooked beef short ribs with ginger and garlic. Using slow cooker makes the beef tender and delicious. Add some vegetables like carrot, onion and celery and the flavours really run through the juices. be sure to braise the beef first to get maximum flavour using the slow cooker. Recipe is below:

Beef Short Ribs Slow Cooked

2 to 3 lbs. of beef short ribs (or other kinds of beef)
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
1 cup chopped celery
6 chopped Roma tomatoes
2 tablespoons cooking oil
2 to 3 teaspoon salt
1 to 2 teaspoon black pepper
3 teaspoons thyme
1 to 2 tablespoon chopped garlic
2 to 3 tablespoons chopped ginger
7 cups water
2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar (optional)
1 to 2 tablespoons light soy sauce (optional)

Heat a pan at medium heat. Braise the beef short ribs on each side, starting with the bone side first. Put beef short ribs in a slow cooker or a regular cooking pot. In the pan, grill the onions and celery for a few minutes. Add to the slow cooker. Also add carrots, salt, pepper, ginger and garlic to the slow cooker. Put 5 to 7 cups water into the slow cooker. Cover the slow cooker with the lid. Cook the ribs for 4 to 6 hours on high heat or 6 to 8 hours on slow heat using the slow cooker. If you are using a regular pot, the cooking time would be about 1/2 the time. Optional: add brown sugar for sweeter flavour. Optional: add soy sauce for saltier taste.
