Beef And Greens Chow Mein is a simple and easy recipe for delicious chow mein noodles. Use your favorite Chinese vegetable such as "yu choy". You can use other Chinese vegetables such as bok choy, gai lan or snow peas. The beef and the Chinese vegetable in a sauce with ginger, garlic, soy sauce is really delicious. Recipe is below:
Beef And Greens Chow Mein
Ingredients for chow mein:
3 to 4 cups chow mein noodles
3 tablespoons chopped onions
3 tablespoons cooking oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 to 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
Chow mein noodles usually come in 8 oz. or 16 oz. bags. Put noodles in boiling water and boil according to instructions, usually up to 1 minute. Put noodles in cold running water and strain.
To stir fry chow mein noodles, preheat pan at medium heat. Put chow mein in pan and stir fry. Add salt and soy sauce to mix in. Add more cooking oil if required. Put chow mein on a plate.
Ingredients for Beef and Greens topping:
3 to 5 cups yu choy or other Chinese vegetable
4 oz. sliced beef
1 tablespoon chopped ginger and garlic
2 tablespoon cooking oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon dark soy sauce
1 teaspoon oyster flavor sauce
1 teaspoon light soy sauce
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed in 1/3 cup water
Preheat pan at medium heat and add 2 tablespoons cooking oil. Add sliced beef and stir fry 30 seconds. Add ginger and garlic to beef and stir fry. Remove beef onto a plate when beef is cooked 1/2 way. Put yu choy or any other Chinese vegetable into pan. Add water. Then add salt, sesame oil, dark soy sauce, light soy sauce and oyster flavor sauce. Mix well. To thicken sauce, slowly add cornstarch water solution until sauce reaches desired thickness. Pour the beef and Chinese vegetables over the chow mein. Enjoy!
