珍貴視頻：BBC記者採訪鄧麗君/BBC's Interview with Teresa Teng

On January 7, 1984, as part of Teresa Teng's Asian Performing Tour to mark her 15-year anniversary of the start of her singing career, her "Billion Applause Concert" was held in Taipei, attracting a large number of audience members and wide media coverage. BBC Beijing correspondent Stephen Jessel and New York Times Beijing Bureau Chief Christopher S. Wren were also there to see the concert, which was a great success. During the 15-minute intermission, they were interviewed by a local TV reporter to share what they knew about Teresa Teng and their interview with her the day before.

在那個時候，儘管鄧麗君的歌聲已經廣爲大陸民衆所喜愛，但大陸官方對鄧麗君還基本上呈否定的態度，甚至認爲她的歌聲代表一種「精神污染」。臺灣中央廣播電臺當時在這一背景之下，透過電臺27個頻率穿越鐵幕將演唱會實況放送到大陸各地，使不少大陸民衆也欣賞到鄧麗君在該演唱會上的歌聲。
At that time, although Teresa Teng's songs had already been very popular in Mainland China, its government did not like Teresa Teng's influence there and even regarded her songs as a kind of "spiritual pollution." Against this background, the Central Radio Station in Taiwan broadcast the concert to every corner of Mainland China through 27 frequencies, so that many people there were also able to enjoy the songs by Teresa Teng at the concert.
