2 Tbsp -------- cooking oil
5 cloves ------- garlic (smashed flat only)
premix sauce:
1¾ cups ----- water
⅛ cup --------- each, soy sauce, Chinkiang [or Zhenjiang] vinegar & rice wine
1 Tbsp ---------- sugar
2 pcs ----------- star anise
6 pcs ----------- fried tofu cubes (cut into 2 each cube)
1 stalk ---------- green onion (chopped)
4 cups ----—----- cooked steamed rice
