There are thousands of mods for this game. Such mods include new cars, new engines, new rims/tires, new suspension, new tracks (only for 2.2.1 MWM), new sounds, new menus, and new textures. However it is recommended to act cautiously while modding the game, because the game is very unstable and likely to crash when too many mods are installed that could conflict with each other.
Cars in the game look very similar to their real-life counterparts, but with given fictitious names. For example: Mitsubishi is called Shimutsibu, Subaru is called Ishima, Chevrolet Camaro is called MC, Volkswagen is called Einvagen, Honda is called Duhen, BMW is called Baiern, Nissan is called Emer and Dodge is called Hauler's. Depending on the version of the game, there are 2 prize cars: Prime DLH 500 (based on a Shelby GT500) or if 2.3.0 Live! Edition is installed, the "Furrano GTS" from its prequel. Players can buy cars from the Used Car Dealer or the New Car Dealer. Initially, players are only given enough money to buy a used car and repair it if it was inexpensive enough.
The Chevrolet Malibu is a mid-size car manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet from 1964 to 1983 and since 1997. The Malibu began as a trim-level of the Chevrolet Chevelle, becoming its own model line in 1978. Originally a rear-wheel-drive intermediate, GM revived the Malibu nameplate as a front-wheel-drive car in 1997.

A BAS mild hybrid, with the base inline-4 like the Saturn Aura Green Line, is available offering an increased fuel economy of 24 mpg-US (9.8 L/100 km; 29 mpg-imp)/32 mpg-US (7.4 L/100 km; 38 mpg-imp), which for the 2009 model, is now 26 mpg-US (9.0 L/100 km; 31 mpg-imp)/34 mpg-US (6.9 L/100 km; 41 mpg-imp). The Malibu hybrid was dropped for the 2010 model year.[25][26]
The 2013 Malibu moved to GM Epsilon II platform and debuted in 2012.[39] The new Malibu became a global vehicle, replacing both the North American Malibu and GM Korea vehicles previously sold around the world. The Malibu was unveiled as a show car simultaneously at Auto Shanghai in China (written as "迈锐宝", Mai-Rui-Bao [40]), and on Facebook, on April 18, 2011.[41][42] It was also shown at the New York International Auto Show in New York City later in April.
The eighth generation Malibu was available in the trim levels LS 1LS (not available for fleet-ordered models), the LT 1LT (this is the base model for fleet-ordered models), the LT 2LT, the ECO 1SB, the ECO 2SA, and the LTZ 1LZ. Both ECO models officially went on sale in the spring of 2012, with the gas-only models following in late summer 2012. The Turbo models followed in early 2013
All models, aside from the LS 1LS, were equipped with a large touch-screen display using Chevrolet's MyLink and offering Pandora Internet Radio playback capabilities via a USB cable and an iPhone 4, 4S, or 5. SiriusXM Travel Link was also included on all navigation-equipped Malibu models.
