A found by DailyMail.com tethered to a pole in Victoria, Texas, is safe from the flood water and has been fed and nicknamed lucky - but she is still to have its owners return to look after it
EXCLUSIVE: Meet Lucky, the dog saved from drowning in Hurricane Harvey - but who needs more luck now to be reunited with her owners
photographer stumbled on a small dog left tied to a pole as the rain poured down on Saturday afternoon in a field outside Victoria, Texas
Soaked, tethered and surrounded by rising waters, she could have been a casualty of Hurrican Harvey, but when photographer Ruaridh Connellan untied her, she bounded to safety
She was left with another dog - a pitbull mix - a pony and two cats, all of whom were untethered, suggesting her being tied to a pole may have been unintentional
DailyMail.com has alerted local animal services to their presence and the two dogs were happy to be fed but their owners have still to come home after abandoning their trailer
When Connellan returned to check on Luck she wagged her tail and he fell in love and says: 'I would love to adopt her.'
With the waters above her paws and a leash tethering her to a pole, the dog looked on the verge of becoming a victim of Hurricane Harvey.
The mongrel was soaked to the skin and apparently abandoned in an area where every human had fled before the storm – until DailyMail.com intervened.
Photographer Ruaridh Connellan rushed across the flood water, which was fortunately not dangerously deep, and untied the dog, who wagged her tail and bounded of to safer ground.
Her name now? Lucky – although she still needs a bit more luck to come her way.
