Lanyu used to be known as "People's Island" which is located in a region of the Western Pacific. Its volcanic topography makes it a waypoint bridging tropical and sub-tropical climates. There are over 100 species of plants and nearly 70 endemic species, so the island’s natural resources are quite rich and plentiful.
