Do you like history lessons, and a context for the strange title? Well hear me out! A long time ago in ancient China, everyone and especially girls would leave their hair long and flowing until the day they find their soul mate. Once they are officially married, the custom is to tie your hair up in a bundle to show that you are spoken for. They even find it romantic when the man does it for her!

With this practice the Chinese of old have coined a romantic term specifically for it, they called it 綰青絲 which literally translates as "binding up the fine silk". It is also conveniently a homonym of a phrase 挽情思 which means "to carry thoughts of romance". Many a girl of that period has a dream; to live with long and flowing hair, until the day she finds her soul mate, at which she will let him bind up her delicate silken hair, and live as a blessed couple for the rest of their lives.

P.S. On August the 9th, it will be the 7th day of the 7th month in the lunar calendar, it's the Magpie Festival! Also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day, if you need an excuse to do something nice for your partner, haha! Wish all the couples have a lovely time and a blessed life ahead!
