第一屆的21U世界棒球錦標賽, 一共有11個國家參賽, 中華隊經挑細選24人名單, 就是為了要力克強敵. 投手部份, 除了郭俊麟穩定軍心之外, 業餘強投楊志龍也在名單中, 並且會在預賽首戰對上墨西哥先發, 力拼開門紅.
至於野手部份, 曾在爆米花聯盟繳出穩定打擊表現的強棒楊岱均, 也備受矚目.總教練郭李建夫對這批中華隊寄與厚望, 希望能把擁有歷史意義的第一屆冠軍, 留在台灣.
