Faye Wong's famous "Pledge" from her classic 1994 album, Sky. It was a significant milestone for popular music in Asia as one of the first popular songs to seamlessly combine musical elements from the East and West. The clearest examples of this are the solos performed on the chinese bamboo flute Dizi, by ex-husband Dou Wei, and Faye's folk singing at the end.

The credits for the music of this song goes to the team of Faye and Dou Wei, while the multi-talented singer wrote the lyrics herself. Faye has often said that her lyrics reflect her inner feelings at the time of their creation. Here, the lyrics of "Pledge" seem to hint at Dou Wei's infidelity and its effects on their relationship, forshadowing their divorce a few years later.

This classic music video, directed by Susie Au (區雪兒) and shot over 16 hours, has Faye bouncing around the streets of Hong Kong, sporting the pineapple hair style, previously worn by Bjork.
