Best Documentary of 2012 Taiwan's Golden Harvest Award for Outstanding Short Film!
Whatever Lucie Cheng’s life may have been, it’s not a life short of compelling stories.
Lucie Cheng worked five jobs when studying in the U.S. even though she was born in a well-known family. At one stage, no one believed her study on Asian American women was going to produce any significant results but it ended to be a pioneering classic of its own kind. Cheng had served as a faculty at UCLA for more than 30 years, a position that did not deter her from a long stay in small Chinese towns, championed for the disadvantaged from the perspectives of feminism, class and race. Daughter of a media tycoon, and yet she is a staunch advocate for the underprivileged. This documentary takes the audience to Taiwan and the U.S.A. and shows to all what a colorful and inspiring life Cheng had led. This film is a testament to how a woman and a social scientist pursed not only academic research but the spirits of freedom through social practices.
