Here is a traditional chinese hangzhou stew cooking, that is so delicious, so tender and juicy. Very popular over several centuries since song dynasty. Prolong stewing with wine & spices, break down fat to make this meat, loaded with tasty flavor. So tender that it might " melt-in-the-mouth" texture. Enjoy.
List of Ingredients:
1½ pound --- pork belly with skin (cut 2″ cube)
2 Tbsp ------ each, peanut cooking oil & brown sugar
1 cup ------- Shaoxing rice wine
4 cups ------ water
some ------- mui choy veggie (or leafy green veggie)
5 stalks ---- green onion (fold & tie together)
2 oz. ------- ginger (sliced)
½ oz ----- cinnamon bark (more or less)
2 pcs. ------ star anise
¾ cup --- light soy sauce
note: we also need some string to tie the pork cubes.
