倫敦田徑世界錦標賽，男子200公尺決賽大爆冷門，賽前賠率僅第4名的歸化土耳其選手Ramil Guliyev(古利耶夫)，靠著後段驚人尾速擊敗各路勁敵，以20秒09、將近0.02秒的差距摘下金牌，同時這更是土耳其在世錦賽的史上首金。
至於男子三級跳，美國名將Christian Taylor以17米68收下個人在這項賽會的第三金，只不過距離英國選手Jonathon Edwards在1995年世錦賽締造的世界紀錄18米29，仍有不小距離，無緣達成賽前設定的破紀錄目標。
