美國網球公開賽，男子單打第三輪上演大種子中箭落馬的戲碼，2014年的冠軍得主西里奇(Marin Cilic)，是男單第五種子，遭遇阿根廷的史瓦茲曼(Diego Schwartzman)卻意外陷入苦戰。雖然西里奇先拿下第一盤，但是接下來被史瓦茲曼連趕三盤，所以史瓦茲曼逆轉獲勝，目前男單前五種子當中，只剩下費德勒(Roger Federer)和納達爾(Rafael Nadal)兩位名將。
